Every fear has
a name.
Name it. Face it. Own it.
The Fear List is a catalogue of 365 human fears â from the universal (regret, being unseen, stagnation) to the strangely specific (the fear of long words, the fear of clustered holes, the fear of being forgotten while still alive).
Each fear is named. Each fear has a story â historical, psychological, scientific, personal. Some have full deep-dives. Some are still stubs, waiting for their week. The catalogue grows. The fears don't.
We publish a new deep-dive most weeks. It arrives in the newsletter first, gets a video on TikTok and Instagram, and lives forever on its own page in the archive.
The thesis is simple: fear is just change in a bad mood. Most of what we run from isn't an attack â it's a signal that something underneath is moving. Naming the fear is the first move. Looking at it properly is the second. Owning it â that's the work of a lifetime, and you don't have to do it alone.
About the Curator
The Fear List is curated anonymously, by one person. The Curator writes, researches, picks the fears, and edits the confessions. The anonymity isn't a stunt â it's a structural choice. This isn't about who's behind the catalogue. It's about the catalogue.
Every claim of fact in a deep-dive is researched against multiple peer-reviewed sources. Sources are listed at the bottom of each entry. If you find an error, please email â we will correct it publicly.
A note on what this isn't
This is not therapy. This is not medical advice. This is not a substitute for a qualified professional. If a fear is doing more than fascinate you â if it's narrowing your life, stopping you sleeping, or turning into something heavier â please reach out to one of the helplines on our support page. They are free. They are confidential. They exist for exactly this.
If you have a fear we haven't named â a confession, a story, a phobia we've missed â we want to hear it. Email team@thefearlist.com.
The newsletter is free, and it's where each new deep-dive lands first.
